If a person has cold sores in his/her mouth and kisses another person on an area other than the mouth or genitals, a) does the area of the skin become infected, and b) is this area of the skin affected, i.e. does an irritation or other symptom appear?
Okay ever since last summer I noticed that I break out in cold sores about two a month the last time I got one was back in July. I just went to my dermatologist and she said its due to poor diet and lack of sleep. Also stressed. I do get stressed out a lot. What exactly causes cold sores and is their a cure ?
The two questions above you can figure out but i will give more detail for the last one. Yesterday I noticed what I though was a tiny pimple on the edge of my lip. I have this tool that can pop pimples but it didn’t work so I was thinking it could be a cold sore. I have never gotten one, but it doesn’t hurt or anything, its just a small redish-white bump. Is it a pimple or cold sore?
Earlier this evening, I noticed a small circular section on the inside of my lower lip was red and tender. It still is.
It feels like a cold sore. I’ve eaten a lot of chips in the last few days, and about a week-two weeks ago, I was in this zombie movie, and the make up was so thick the guy that did the make up had to remove my make up with a household sponge (the make up was all over my face and lips). Could it be from the chips or the sponge?
And what exactly causes a cold sore? Could it be herpes? Although you have to have sex of some kind to catch herpes, don’t you? And I’m not sexually active. Help please!
It is "common knowledge" on various medical sites that before a cold sore strikes, there is a burning or tingling sensation in the skin where the cold sore will appear. What I want to know is why–what is the physiological cause of this tingling?

okay no so i know cold sores come back, iv had them before NOT FROM SEXUAL CONTACT OR KISSING! ok there randomly there i havent had one in years! i just wanted to know if there was a quick way to get rid of the current one i have

Well, I recently discovered something terrible that causes me to be worried about my health.
About three months ago I dated a man, whom although it was unknown to me, broke out in cold sores. Well we French kissed often, although he never had a cold sore when we kissed. We broke up in May.
Now on Saturday I had discovered that the man I’m currently dating, whom is also my ex’s friend had shared a drink with my ex while he was having a cold sore.
After a couple days of sharing the drink, the man I’m currently dating, and myself had several Frnech kisses again.
Now, I know this is quite a complicated mess but I’ve never had a cold sore before, and neither has any of my family.
So, I was just wondering, what’s the chances of me having a cold sore, and getting the virus?
