Hi, anytime I feel a cold sore coming on (the tingling sensation at the spot the cold sore is going to come up in) I take a qtip dip it in regular over the counter hydrogen peroxide and apply it the place where it is tingling. Usually never comes up. If I get one and neglect to use the peroxide, I still take the q tip dip it in the peroxide, apply it to the cold sore, and it will bubble up. It will turn the cold sore white, so you do not want to do this before you are going somewhere. But after about 5-10 minutes it will go back to normal color. But do that like 3-5 times a day and it will be gone fast. I get them from time to time, especially if i have been out in the sun and heat for a while with out sunblock. And have tried all the over the couter things, but this works the best, and is fast.

There's a simple and effective remedy: Listerine.

Hold some Listerine in your mouth over the cold sores for about a minute. It will sting for about 30 seconds, but after a minute, THE PAIN WILL BE GONE!

For severe cold sores, do it a second time with more Listerine.

Not only does it relieve the pain for long periods of time, but it kills the bacteria infecting the sore, causing it to heal faster.

yes try Dr John Christopher's cold sore tincture

this answer will help with other things to and increase your general knowledge and save you money. Also this website is really helpful anytime you have a problem

you can make it yourself. Go to a health food store that sells bulk herbs (whole foods sells them) and buy an ounce or so of Golden seal, garlic, and skullcap or look for bulk herbs online

take equal amounts of each and add vodka (80 proof grain alcohol..the cheapest is ok) blend or mix and pour into a glass jar with a lid and let settle. when it has settled, add vodka till the top half of the bottle is liquid and the bottom half is herbs (the liquid will rise to the top)..if too much liquid add more herbs till between 50-75% herbs AND 25-50% liquid. Label it cold sore tincture and date it expires 5 years from now. Shake the bottle several times a day (use dark glass, keep in a dark cupboard or put in a paper bag as light deteriorates it. After two weeks strain it through a cloth or cheesecloth and discard herbs and put liquid tincture back in the bottle. Put some on the cold sores and also take 30-60 drops 3 to 5 times a day. It will be good as long as 50-100 years actually,,gets stronger with age. the alcohol extracts more of the pytochemicals that cures and prevent disease, Try to find organic herbs as these have 7-10 times more chemicals than conventional herbs and are better. If you can't find bulk herbs where you live, go to ta health food store and buy dried garlic and a bottle of goldenseal and a bottle of skullcap hopefully organic and take the herbs out of the capsules and make as above. Now you know how to make an herbal tincture which is the best way to take herbs (capsules are not absorbed easily and the alcohol bypasses digestion and gets the herbs right to the bloodstream) and you will save about 90% of the cost of buying herbal tinctures.

Here is the link and another one with other suggestions for cold sores. In the meanwhile before the two weeks are up, just dip out some liquid and use that straining through a little strainer and putting the herbs back in the bottle. You could also make a tea but you will have to take a lot more. this man is very smart and helped many and even cured the incurables with his formulas, so I have no doubt this is a good formula..
