How do I tell if my cold sore is herpes?
I have 3 cold sores along the bottom of my lip.
I got one and over the next 2 days i got 2 more…
I had dry lips for about a week before they all appeared, and I have a habit of touching my face so I guess I spread them..but could it be herpes? How would I know.

Cold sores ARE infact Herpes, but stats. show that up to 80% of people have the virus.
Cold sores can be caused by HSV1 or oral herpes. If you want to know for sure then get tested for oral herpes.
Dry lips along with burning, itching or tingling sensations before the sore appears are all symptoms.
Just wash your hands regularly specially after touching a cold sore. Cold sores are very contagious when they are active. It’s possible but not likely to spread to other areas since the herpes virus does not last long away from the body. So if you touch a sore then hesitate to touch any where else the risk of transmission would be very low.
Some times I get some nasty emails when I say cold sores are oral herpes.
