I’ve been on the pill for about a month and a half now and in the past month alone I’ve had like four cold sores. It’s driving me crazy. I don’t have the money to keep buying Valtrex like this. Should I try going off the pill to see if the cold sores stop?
I know that cold sores are caused by the herpes virus. I was just wondering if taking the pill could have triggered all these outbreaks. Usually I only get them every few months.

i broke out with oral herpes about 2 months ago for some unknown reason.. since then, even with strong medication such as acyclovir and valtrex [taken precisely as directed], i acquire no satisfying results. i have even been taking the vitamin l-lysine for quite some time. although i haven’t gotten actual sores on my lips since the first outbreak, i get small painful sores on my tongue, and my bottom lip is NEVER NOT all cracked and chapped, despite the fact that i use so much chapstick and herpecin L. i constantly have fever blisters on the inside of my bottom lip as well. i am horrified at this condition. i’m 16 and knowing that i have to live with this kills me. i just want a treatment that will make my lips normal for atleast a short period of time, long enough to look presentable so i could find a boyfriend someday. i know it sounds ridiculous, but these are the types of things you think about when you are living with a chronic condition that affects you socially. please help…

I woke up with one this morning! I’ve never had one before!!! PLEASE HELP Eeek, will this freak my bf out?

I’m completely aware of the following options:

1) Boosting my immune system with echinacea, zinc, & vitamin C

2) Supplementing with L-Lysine (~1000 mg/day) & avoiding foods containing L-Arginine.

3) Zovirax or Valtrex–it’s not extreme enough for me to get a prescription for it.

4) Abreva–too expensive!! I hear it’s effective, but this is my last option, I guess…..plus I think it’s more useful if I used it before the actual cold sore appeared

5) Avoid stressing out, etc….

Can someone please help me with other EFFECTIVE options?

I’m currently doing 1 & 2…
Any home remedies that have worked for you?
How long is this thing going to last!?!??
