This is how to stop a cold sore. This method works for me each time I do it. It speeds up the healing process if you already have a cold sore or it stops it from forming when you first feel the tingle. Please try it and if it works make a video reply!! I really want to know how this works for everyone else!

I had a cold sore pop up this evening, and it’s still at the hot, tight, slightly tingly stage. I won’t be able to get hold of Zovirax or similar for a couple of days.
I read in quite a few places on the ‘net that you can use toothpaste, so I’ve slapped some Colgate on, and it does feel quite soothing, but I’ve no idea if it’s doing anything.
Any body got some tried and tested home cold sore remedies?
www.medstores.net Zovirax (Acyclovir) is one of the most commonly-used antiviral drugs, it is primarily used for the treatment of herpes simplex virus infections, as well as in the treatment of herpes zoster (shingles). Aciclovir was seen as the start of a new era in antiviral therapy, as it is extremely selective and low in cytotoxicity. Pharmacologist Gertrude B. Elion was awarded the 1988 Nobel Prize in Medicine, partly for the development of aciclovir. Dr. Richard Whitley, a University of Alabama at Birmingham researcher and pioneer in antiviral therapy, was the first to successfully use the drug in humans. Aciclovir is active against most known species in the herpes virus family. Aciclovir is commonly marketed as tablets (200 mg, 400 mg, 800 mg and 1 gram), topical cream (5%), intravenous injection (25 mg and ophthalmic ointment (3%). Cream preparations are used primarily for labial herpes simplex. The intravenous injection is used when high concentrations of aciclovir are required. The ophthalmic ointment preparation is only used for herpes simplex keratitis. In Singapore, it is available as a 400 mg preparation known as Avorax.
This is the first time I’ve had cold sores and I’m just a little worried and want to make sure this is actually what they are meant to do? All pictures I find of cold sores look like red rashes.
This is day five, and my mouth is caked with yellow pus stuff and some black blood from when I tried to gently clean the loose bits yesterday. It’s been hurting all today (because cleaning the bits that seem to not even be attached still makes it hurt a lot later! I know not to touch it at all now)
Here are the photos (warning, they are GROSS):
* Day 2 (when I saw the doctor and was confirmed they are cold sores, some of that is lip balm to cool down the pain): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v691/ChocoboDragon/ouchness.jpg
* Day 3: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v691/ChocoboDragon/ouchness_more.jpg
* Day 5 (today, with Zovirax cream): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v691/ChocoboDragon/ouchness_evenmore.jpg
Again, I’m sorry it’s so gross!
They still hurt a bit, but not unbearable like Day 3 was.
And yes, I do understand that people here aren’t doctors and can’t diagnose it, but if someone has experience or had them before or something it would be helpful. I will be going to the doctors anyway (they wouldn’t accept me tonight), but I want answers now!
Yes, it is herpes. So that is what it’s meant to do then?
Herpotherm is an effective treatment for cold sores - a small device with a powerful effect. Treatment with Herpotherm is natural, fast and safe, since Herpotherm works by means of a concentrated heat source - with no chemicals whatsoever. Application is simple. Upon the appearance of the first symptoms of cold sores (burns, prickly sensation, itchiness or a feeling of tightness in the lips or neighbouring areas of the skin) apply the Herpotherm to the affected area and turn it on. After a few seconds you will notice a warming of the skin. After a total of 4 seconds a signal will sound, the LED light will go out - and it’s finished! With timely use, the reproduction of the virus, and thereby the spread of the cold sores can be prevented - it’s that easy! No uncomfortable blisters will form and the typical feeling of cold sores in the lip area will not occur. The treatment can also be repeated any time, whenever necessary. Herpotherm is dermatologically tested. Furthermore, it features a gold-plated contact patch so that those with chrome-nickel allergies can use the Herpotherm without any problems.

I started to get a cold sore yesterday and it’s just two blisters on my bottom lip but I’ve had bad experiences with cold sores going insane and I want to know if anyone knows a way to get rid of a cold sore in less than 2 days (or at least make it really really small). I’m going to a banquet/reception on Saturday and I REALLY want to get rid of this thing before then.
I’m currently putting Zovirax on it, which tends to work, but if anyone knows a better way, I really appreciate it.
I woke up with one this morning!
I’ve never had one before!!! PLEASE HELP
Eeek, will this freak my bf out?
I’m completely aware of the following options:
1) Boosting my immune system with echinacea, zinc, & vitamin C
2) Supplementing with L-Lysine (~1000 mg/day) & avoiding foods containing L-Arginine.
3) Zovirax or Valtrex–it’s not extreme enough for me to get a prescription for it.
4) Abreva–too expensive!! I hear it’s effective, but this is my last option, I guess…..plus I think it’s more useful if I used it before the actual cold sore appeared
5) Avoid stressing out, etc….
Can someone please help me with other EFFECTIVE options?
I’m currently doing 1 & 2…
Any home remedies that have worked for you?
How long is this thing going to last!?!??
Please help…
Thanks so much.
