COLD SORE STAGES: # 2 - PRODROME - The cold sore virus reproductive cycle begins here. The cold sore virus travels down your nerve fibers to the surface. This movement causes your cold sore target area to itch or tingle. You may notice a burning or dryness sensation. This stage could last a few hours to a few days before entering the more intense cold sore stages.

Be very careful with any secretions from the cold sore. Especially keep secretions away from your eyes. It can cause an eye infection that can scar your cornea.

It looks like a pimple that’s just starting to form. It tingles too. I’ve been able to prevent mine from forming into a full cold sore by using prescription Zovirax on a Q tip cotton swab frequently throughout the day as soon as I see and feel one.
Don’t kiss anyone near the lips, share drinks or eating utensils during this time, and wash your hands very good after treating it. Also wash your hands BEFORE going to the bathroom. If you’re sexually active, don’t involve your mouth until it clears up.
